The Rusty Nail Inn, Omaha -- PREVIEW

Oh boy, this is going to be ugly.  A dive bar SO BAD that I had to hit the local convenience store on my way home to achieve a semblance of a buzz I assumed I would have leaving the place.  How bad was my, night?  Funny you should ask...

As I tried to buy a lukewarm "sixer", some hammered/illiterate/wino (not me by the way), with his shirt on inside out, was attempting to buy a bottle of vodka with a check.  This transaction took nearly 10 minutes for him just to get the date correct.  Even though he was prompted 20 times by the cashier (and the growing line of seven annoyed people who kept yelling "AUGUST 11th!!!!") he could just not get it right.

And that was the HIGH POINT of this trip!  Stay tuned for a full review tomorrow.

  1. this place may be under new ownership but still has the same baby spice bartender & 30 yr old strung out half tatted doucher working there so I ask myself, what business man would invest in such a shithole then keep the people that prolly ran the old owner out in the first place? Destined to fail again.

  2. Just when I was having hopes of the place getting turned in the right direction. I had considered making a return visit this month to see if the new ownership had changed things for the better. Bad service is what my experience there so horrible in the first place. What the the hell...I'm a glutton for punishment, maybe I should go back anyway.

  3. This is the new owner, Bob Cox. The "baby spice" bartender's name is Tiffany, and she has worked her ass off to follow my new policies and procedures. The 30yr old strung out half tatted doucher's name is Ryan and he is one of the best bartenders in Omaha. These two bartenders needed some guiding and support from a owner, which they now have.I am very proud of the changes they have made and the bar reflects it. I challange anyone to come in to the New Rusty Nail Pub and see the improvements and not notice the difference. Business has picked up wonderfully and it is all because the old and new staff are working hard to give the best service in town and keep the bar clean. PS we closed the bar for 15 days for a top to bottom cleaning. New bathrooms too.

  4. Bob...I owe you a revisit. You have a cool space, and a bar that we sorely need in West Omaha. When is the best time to stop by again? I literally drive past the Rusty Nail every day.

  7. Just went to a b-day party there. Everything was great, food was really good, owner went out of his way to make sure we had wonderful service. Will go back soon, had a lot of fun.

  8. I agree, they finally seem to be moving in the right direction. Not quite there yet, but the service is 100% better!
